Like I and everybody tutored in economics predicted, the US economy has shrunk by a ⅓ of 1 per cent. You cannot spit in the eye of customers and expect business to thrive…it will disappear and like economists predicted, interfering with markets with tariff walls, kills markets, not expands them.
The result is spectacularly lucky for Trump because importers bought big to avoid tariffs, so doubled their inventory before tariffs began, actually worked momentarily against the contractionary effect of tariffs. If importers hadn't bought big, we may have had a 2 or 3% economic contraction in the US, in a mere 100 days.
