Caligula has the body of Pilate taken from the river and dumped in A deep northern Italian lake.

They dump Pilates body in the river and it fails to rot, the locals consider it a miracle, legend spreads of his indestructibility

Then Caligula undertakes to poison Pilate, who is poisoned by an assassin contingent sent by Caligula.

Pilate is removed as procurator of Judea, placed in a solitary outpost in France, befriends the people instead of being killed by them

HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE: Caligula is feted as living God, Pilates wife divorces him in spite of popularity with Roman army as legend

This is where Caligula is feted by the Senate as a living God, my next year is deadly peril as the only person in this life that crossed him

People with no knowledge in history turned to infantile delusion of all powerful God, that was supposed to heal in the absence of knowledge.

Strict God miracle healing also over compensates for illiteracy or non reading.
