Australia has one of the biggest economies per head of population because the economy took off in the early 1970's with the advent of easily available welfare and liveable unemployment benefits. To that has been added a healthy immigration intake that ensured economic growth for 50 years. The extremists who call for cutting welfare and immigration totals, will imp[lode the economy, like Trump has done to US economy, now surviving on the stimulus to Military Industrial Complex, due to welfare cuts and immigration cut backs. War indurties will lead to military adventurism and the US economy will be destroyed in another Vietnam style rout and guagmire. But US never learns, just like Russia hasn't and China is falling into the same military adverturism that destroys the economy.
